We had such a lovely time at the Grand Re-Opening Gala of the Southern Food and Beverage Museum on April 17, 2015. The food (especially that fried chicken!) from Purloo was delicious, the cocktails from Lillet were all amazing, and Sharon Martin Music and the demonstrations from Dale DeGroff, Poppy Tooker, and Justin Devillier kept us entertained throughout the night. We were also honored to accept one of the last bottles of KINA Lillet into the The Museum of the American Cocktail's collections.
Two new exhibits also opened on the main museum floor: Creative Kitchen of Al Copeland and Makin' Groceries: Marketing in New Orleans. Thanks for all who came out and supported the museum.
We rounded out the weekend with demonstrations in the beautifully curated Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air. On Saturday, April 18 we enjoyed a free day sponsored by the family of Suzanne Levy Ormond, with delicious samples from Mrs. Ormond's books, "Favorite New Orleans Recipes" and "Recipes from an Old New Orleans Kitchen." Then Chef Tenney Flynn of GW Fins Restaurant showed us how to break down and enjoy an entire red fish with a Coconut Green Curry and a Crawfish Etouffee. On Sunday, April 19 Chef Tariq Hanna of Sucre demonstrated how to make one of his famous delicious chocolate desserts.
