In late spring the Boyd Library began participating in the Surplus Books Program at the Library of Congress, in Washington DC.
This program is designed to grow library collections using surplus books the Library of Congress doesn’t need for its own programs.
Sheila Crye, a NatFAB board member who lives nearby, makes the trip to the Library of Congress to select books she thinks will be appropriate additions to the Boyd collection. She does a good job!
Thus far we’ve received approximately 20 boxes which contain titles like those pictured here. We get books in foreign languages, kids’ cookbooks, and books about agricultural products, food history, and flora, fauna and fishes from various parts of the world.
Our participation in this program is great way to expand our book collection.
