Pacific Taste is an ongoing series of culinary talks and workshops hosted by the Pacific Food & Beverage Museum in venues across Southern California. Research Fellow Linda Civitello, Curator Richard Foss, Chef Ernest Miller, and others deliver lively lectures and lead hands-on workshops demonstrating the rich culinary traditions and distinctive cuisines of the Pacific Coast and American West.
The Wines of Baja: A Gallery Talk & Tasting with Stacie Hunt
Valle de Guadalupe, a close-to-home, south-of-the-border, and under-the-radar wine region in Baja California, is just a three-hour drive from Los Angeles. And although it's over two centuries old, Mexico's leading wine region is considered emergent. It produces a range of fine wines from a wide variety of red and white grapes, including Chasselas, Chenin Blanc, Grenache, Malbec, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Viognier, and Zinfandel, as well as the native Mission and exotic Rosa de Perú. On Saturday, February 2, visit LA's Pacific Food & Beverage Museum, taste some of the region's finest wines, and learn about winemaking in Mexico from Stacie Hunt, a certified sommelier, wine writer, and author of Zinfandel: Beginners Guide to Wine.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Stacie Hunt is a Certified Silver Pin Sommelier/North American Sommelier Association/AIS/WSA (nasommelier.com) and Co-Founder of SPLASH Productions (splashpros.com), producers of wine, cuisine, and art exhibitions and video productions/documentaries, television/digital publicity, and marketing for wineries and winemaking regions. She is a contributor to Good Food on KCRW-FM, Los Angeles's flagship NPR station, serves as Sommelier Journalist for the award-winning online magazine, MY LA Lifestyle (mylalifestyle.com), and is the author of Zinfandel: Beginners Guide to Wine.
She is Vice President of the National Association of Wine Retailers (nawr.org), working to “free the grapes” via direct shipping from wineries to retailers and consumers nationwide. For Du Vin Wine & Spirits in West Hollywood, she is the marketer specializing in the wines of Italy and Latin America.
Her most passionate areas of work are as a spokesperson, international wine judge, educator, journalist, and course co-creator (American Wine Specialist, Olive Oil Specialist, and Baja Wine Specialist) with the North American Sommelier Association. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at California Polytechnic State University and guest lecturer at UCLA Vintage. In this capacity, Stacie is a thought leader for communicating, educating, and encouraging students to develop their knowledge of wine and food. An equal passion is functioning as a judge for wine competitions in the US, Argentina, and Mexico.
Along with her work in the wine industry, Stacie is the Founder & CEO of Point Media (pointmedia.com), a digital video production firm specializing in the music industry, developing music videos, multi-cam concert productions, and mobile applications. At times her two passions of wine and video production cross over. Stacie is producer of the one-hour, award-winning documentary for Wine Spectator magazine and producer of over a dozen Satellite Media Tours featuring wineries. She is an Emmy and Belding Award winner for her news and journalism work with NBC. As a product/brand spokesperson, she has conducted international webcasts and shows for Bertolli Foods and Saeco and is spokesperson for the Baja Winemakers and Chefs Association.
