While closely related, the Carnival of Venice is culturally and literally a world apart from its better known, and more raucous, cousins in New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro.
But this ancient festival packs a cultural wallop unknown to most outside Italy, and on Monday, February 27, the eve of Mardi Gras, The Museum of the American Cocktail visits Hollywood to celebrate it in spirited style. Spirits and wine expert and master bartender Joel Caruso leads a grand tour of Italian spirits, including amaro, brandy, liqueur, and more, while Drinkmasters Rhino Williams and Jeremy Lake prepare Carnival-inspired signature cocktails. Plus, revelers enjoy savory small plates from the kitchen of Lost Property Bar.
