Summer Kids Culinary Camp

The SoFAB Kids Culinary Camp is a half-day, week-long program designed to teach kids how to cook in a fun, open and creative space. Each day there’s a new recipe and campers work together measuring, chopping, and stirring to create a delicious and healthy lunch to enjoy with each other. They’ll also be staying active and improving their nutritional literacy through games and arts and crafts projects.

In addition to our Kids in the Kitchen programming, the SoFAB Culinary Camp allows us concentrated time with your kids, training them in kitchen basics, encouraging them to try new foods, sharing the importance of food history and nutrition, and most of all creating confidence in the kitchen. Due to your support the past few years, we've made a few changes so that camp grows as our programming grows! This year we will offer 30 spots per week of camp instead of 25. As each of our camp weeks will have a different theme, we're offering a 10% discount on each additional week you sign your child up for. Lastly, we're excited to introduce our first Middle School camp week for 12-15 year olds that will feature more advanced skill training with just as much fun.

Tickets will go on-sale March 16th, at noon. 

Camp runs from 9 AM to 12 PM every weekday for five weeks. This year’s Kids Camp will be held the weeks of:

  • May 30 - June 3 (7-11 years)
  • June 6 - 10 (7-11 years)
  • June 13 -17 (7-11 years)
  • June 20 -24 (7-11 years)
  • June 27 - July 1 (7-11 years)

And our first ever Middle School week:

  • July 11 - 15 (12-15 years)

Each week of camp will be $100 per camper, and $75 per camper for members of the National Food & Beverage Foundation (the umbrella organization of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum). We are offering a 10% discount on all additional weeks of camp.

Registration will open here, on this page, on March 16th, 2016 at 12 PM.  If you are not a SoFAB Member and you purchase the member ticket, you may lose your spot as we will have to re-register at the regular rate. If you are unsure if you're a member, please contact Kelsey Parris (kelsey@southernfood.org or 504-267-7490). If you have any issues with registering, please call us at 504-267-7490. Tickets may be refunded or exchanged up to 48 hours prior to the event. After 48 hours no refunds will be available.
