Oak in Wine and Why: A Casual Wine Class

Join us on May 21 for the next monthly meeting of The SoFAB Wine Group: A Casual Wine Class. This time we'll be exploring Oak In Wine and Why, from the types of barrels used to the flavors they impart. We'll sample several varietals with different oak features and discuss the differece between French and American oak. 

Certified Sommelier Gabriel Senette (Commander's Palace, Les Grands Esprits Consulting) will conduct a guided tasting and answer your questions. The SoFAB Wine Group is held monthly every 3rd Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in The Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air (1830 M.L.K. Blvd.). 

Advance tickets are $25 per person, and $20 per SoFAB/NatFAB Member. At the door tickets will be $30 per person, and $25 for members. Become a member today! Advance tickets close at 4:30 PM on the day of, and a limited number will be sold at the door.

About the Sommelier


Gabriel is the Owner of Les Grands Esprits Consulting. He has most recently worked as a Captain and Sommelier at Commander's Palace Restaurant. He has experience working with importers, wholesalers, chef's and managers throughout South Louisiana. He specializes in Pacific Northwest wines, Louisiana's local breweries, and pairing with South Louisiana's Cajun/Creole traditional recipes, ingredients, and techniques.
