Join Chef Jeff Henderson, Chef Gason Nelson, and Chef Kamili Hemphill at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans to celebrate Soul Food Month (June). Each chef has his or her own twist on favorite Soul Food recipes. Watch them present and demonstrate not only their favorite re-inventions, but the stories behind them, while they assist each other in classic in-your-kitchen style. After all, spending time in the kitchen together passes on traditions, heritage, and civilization as well as the actual recipes themselves.

About the Chefs
Chef Jeff Henderson rose from humble beginnings in South Central Los Angeles to become the first African-American executive chef at the Bellagio Hotel. He has gone on to become a successful TV host with a cable show on the Food Network, a nationally syndicated series called, Family Style with Chef Jeff and the host of Flip My Food. When he isn’t cooking on TV he’s a highly sought-after motivational speaker, sharing the secrets of realizing your potential at schools, organizations, and Fortune 500 companies across the country. The American Tasting Institute has named him Las Vegas Chef of the Year. HarperCollins published his life story in the New York Times best selling book “Cooked”. His success as an author landed him on Oprah. Shortly after that TV appearance, Sony Pictures bought the rights to his book and his life story, which is currently being developed into a major motion picture. Jeff has taken advantage of his exposure to inspire disadvantaged young adults and at-risk youth. In addition to his high profile speaking engagements, he makes regular appearances at prisons and inner-city youth programs all around the United States. Today Jeff shares his knowledge and excitement for food through his speaking career, his cooking shows and his popular cookbooks. His story has been featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNN, ABC World News Tonight, The Steve Harvey Show, USA Today, People Magazine, New York Times, Newsweek, and the Washington Post. Jeff currently resides between Las Vegas and New Orleans.
Chef Gason Nelson is on of the very best personal chefs in the business. His extraordinary culinary skills have taken him around the world. He has cooked for numerous celebrities, athletes, philanthropist, politicians and prominent businessmen. The late Paul Walker, Reggie Bush, Duane "The Rock" Johnson and several New Orleans Saints Player. Chef Gason also travel throughout the country partnering with well known chefs providing fun interactive cooking demos for various clients and charitable organizations. He has competed on the Food Network show, "Chopped," making it to the final round, and his company, Full of Flavor, is capable of arranging every aspect of your dining experience, whether it's for two or two thousand. Chef Gason combines his impeccable attention to detail, with his passion for flavoring foo, and his vast culinary experience to provide you with a gastronomical fete that will delight all of your sense.
Kamili Hemphill’s passion for cooking started at a young age inspired by her parents love for food. Growing up in Jackson, MS she spent many weekends visiting New Orleans developing her own love of the culinary world and the culture of the city where she would eventually live. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Spelman College in Atlanta, Kamili attended the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT. After graduation she returned to New Orleans where she worked as a line cook at NOLA, Emeril’s Restaurant, Louis XVI and eventually in the kitchen with Chef Anne Kearney of Peristyle where she was later promoted to Sous Chef. Today, she works at Emeril’s Homebase in the test kitchen as a Culinary Writer assisting Chef Emeril Lagasse with developing and testing recipes for his cookbooks, products, and television shows.
