Gin: The Deep Dive

with Silent Pool & Sam Neville-Towle

Gin—its origins, the way it's made, and the variety of flavors it can produce are often shrouded in mystery. On Saturday, June 22, visit LA's Pacific Food & Beverage Museum and take the deep dive with Silent Pool Gin and Sam Neville-Towle. Unearth the spirit’s rich history, gain knowledge of the distillation process, and discover the secrets behind its distinctive taste. Sample Silent Pool, along with its three, exclusive, component distillates, and leave with a rich understanding of this adult beverage we call gin. After the program, enjoy refreshments prepared with fresh far from Melissa's Produce by PacFAB Director Tracey Mitchell.

Hailing from South England, Sam Neville-Towle started working at the Silent Pool Distillers in spring 2016. Hungry for the knowledge and skills of making spirits, he quickly advanced in the company, becoming distiller of gin by day and his own brandy projects by night. A desire to practice the art of fermentation led Sam to Argentina, where he began working in a brewery and grappa distillery, growing a big bushy beard in order to feel the part. Armed with the tricks of these trades, he's now exploring another aspect of the industry, serving as Brand Ambassador of Silent Pool Gin, sharing his home country's native spirit with the California world.

Silent Pool Gin is a classic gin at heart—full bodied and fresh, with depth, clarity, and, above all else, flavor. Produced with 24 unique botanicals, it is a rich and clean juniper-driven spirit, with floral layers of lavender and chamomile. Fresh notes of citrus and kaffir lime are grounded with the subtle sweetness of local honey, creating a well-balanced gin that is both traditional and refreshingly individual.
