September is a special month for the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. Last year on September 29th, our staff opened the doors to the new museum space at 1504 Oretha C Haley Boulevard and welcomed the first visitors. We've come a long way since that day almost a year ago, and we're excited to continue to share the growing exhibits, programming, and more with our friends. To celebrate our first year on the boulevard, we have quite a few events planned for September 26th.
First and foremost, SoFAB is participating in Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live! In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket… for free. Get your ticket and learn about other participating museums here. Tickets are valid for September 26, 2015.
We'll also be thanking our members, who have been with SoFAB through thick and thin, with a Member Appreciation Day! Renew or join SoFAB anytime in September and we'll have a special goody bag waiting at the front desk for you. All renewals will also be automatically entered into a chance to win a one-to-two-night stay at one of the beautiful New Orleans Hotel Collection properties.
From 11 AM to 2 PM we're welcoming author Dixie Poché from Lafayette as she signs her new book, Classic Eateries of Cajun Country and invites chef Luke Deville of Teet’s Food Store in Ville Platte to demonstrate a few delicacies from the book at 1 PM. Learn more about the Cajun Piggy Tales here.
Stay tuned for more updates and offerings as we celebrate!
