Girl Scout Class: The Art of Pasta Making

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is partnering with Girl Scouts of America to host occasional cooking classes. Only Girl Scouts are eligible to join these classes at this time.

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum invites Girl Scouts to attend these very special days of culinary exploration! Come see our Museum and enjoy an educational stroll through time depicted by the foods and resources that define our culture topped off with a scoop of culinary delight!

The Art of Pasta Making

When we think of pasta we often think of Italy. Pasta was brought to the United States with the waves of immigration beginning in the late 1800s. The history of pasta goes back thousands of years. Some believe that the Chinese were the first to make pasta and others believe it dates back to the ancient Romans.

In this workshop, girls will learn the basics of pasta-making by shaping orecchiette noodles to take home and cook. A recipe for the noodles, as well as a simple tomato and butter sauce will be included. Please bring a container to take home your pasta, Ziploc bags will be available for $1.

This program will be held on Saturday, January 14. There will be three hour-long sessions beginning at thetop of every hour (10am, 11pm & 12pm), with a maximum of 25 girl scouts per hour. Please purchase your tickets for the correct date and time.

Special Girl Scout discount rate of $8 per participant, with 1 free chaperone for every 4 girls. Additional adults will be charged $8. All adults who want to make their own pasta will be charged $8. Price includes the activity and entrance to the museum (you’re welcome to look around the exhibits before or after!). All adults who want to make their own pasta will be charged $8. Troops must reserve participation slots in advance by calling 504-569-0405 or purchasing a ticket below. Participation slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.
