Pacific Taste: Dates: The Oldest Cultivated Fruit

Dates have been a favorite fruit for nearly 10,000 years, with a rich cultural history that extends to many parts of the world—including the farmland of California’s Coachella Valley. In this workshop with PacFAB's Chef Ernest Miller, explore the delicious world of dates and create some tasty recipes, including frosty date shakes!

Ages 7 and up. Fee includes one accompanying adult.


Pacific Taste is an ongoing series of culinary talks and workshops hosted by the Pacific Food & Beverage Museum in venues across Southern California. Research Fellow Linda Civitello, Curator Richard FossChef Ernest Miller, and others deliver lively lectures and lead hands-on workshops demonstrating the rich culinary traditions and distinctive cuisines of the Pacific Coast and American West.
