Hospitality Maven Bonnie Warren Becomes Honorary Dame
Bonnie Warren, highly respected writer and public relations professional with more than 50 years in the restaurant and hospitality business, will be honored on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3PM by the New Orleans Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier (LDEI). The reception, taking place at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum, will honor Warren as a Dame Emeritus.
Warren is a founding editor of New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles and the former city editor for Better Homes and Gardens. She was the original food critic for Gambit and wrote a weekly column for five years. Warren co-authored two books with photographer Cheryl Gerber, New Orleans Historic Homes and New Orleans Homes at Christmas, both from Pelican Publishing. Additionally, Warren was the director of public relations for Brennan's Restaurant for 29 years, a job that connected her with top food and travel journalists from around the world. She has also managed media relations for Houmas House Plantation for more than a decade. Warren is a longtime resident of Algiers.
Admission to the reception honoring Warren is $20 per person and includes wine and food representing both Warren's Southern and African roots - she was born in South Africa to missionary parents and came to the U.S. as a child. Proceeds from the event will benefit the local nonprofit Les Dames chapter and the Southern Food & Beverage Museum, a nonprofit living history organization dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of the food, drink and the related culture of the South.
The New Orleans chapter of the international women in culinary non-profit organization Les Dames d'Escoffier was founded in 2017 by writers Stephanie Carter and Beth D'Addono, Sam Cusimano, marketing director for the Commanders Restaurant Group, Tales of the Cocktail executive director Caroline Rosen and chef/baker Emily Vanlandingham. The chapters' 38 members include chefs, bartenders, writers, marketing professionals, makers and other professionals specializing in hospitality.
