The Southern Food & Beverage Museum, Delgado Community College and John E Koerner & Co., Inc., present the third Annual New Orleans Big Top Cake Competition and Bakery Carnival!

Taking place on June 23, 2018, the Big Top Cake Competition allows professionals, home bakers, and students to showcase their finest cake decorating techniques to our team of professional judges and the public. This year the theme is “A Celebration of Time!” to highlight NOLA's 300th Birthday and SoFAB's 10th! 

The competition will be judged by professional judges as well as the public. You get to vote for the best cake and pastry with the People's Choice award while enjoying samples of the tasting cakes and the Bakery Carnival, a showcase of local bakeries sampling out their favorite sweet and savory choux pastry treats. Demonstrations, tasting cakes, and the Bakery Carnival will be located at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. The decorated cakes will be on display at Dryades Public Market, 1307 Oretha C. Haley Boulevard. 

Samples are first come first serve. Attendance to all events of the day is free with museum admission ($10.50 for adults, $5.25 for students, seniors, and military). In addition to samples and viewing, we'll have cake decorating demonstrations, cake discussions, and more! Winners will be announced at 1:45 PM. Pre-purchase your general admission tickets here: 

Admission includes a ballot to vote for your favorite decorated cake and your favorite Bakery Carnival treat. Stuffing the ballot boxes is fully encouraged, so we'll have extra ballots for purchase! 


11 AM: Doors open to the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. Cakes will be on display at the Dryades Public Market, 1307 Oretha C. Haley Boulevard. Visit the museum first to get your voting tickets and vote for your favorite cake.

11 AM: Cake Decorating for Kids! Demonstration with Dee Levigne of Deelightful Cupcakes

12 PM: Careers in the Pastry World Panel with Chef Angela Wilson of Delgado, Chef Cesar Barachina, Chef Christina Nicosia of the Louisiana Culinary Institute, and Amy Deschaine of Koerner & Co. Inc. 

1 PM: Advanced Pastry Decorating! Demonstration with Chef Cesar Barachina

1 PM: Voting Ends for the Public
