About the Presenter

Galen is a farmer and butcher. He and his family have been farming in Kentwood, Louisiana since 2010. On their farm they practice multi-species intensive rotational grazing in an attempt to build healthy top soil using strategic animal impact. In this system they produce grass-fed beef, pastured chickens and turkeys, and Berkshire pork. In 2016 Galen opened Iverstine Farms Butcher in Baton Rouge where they butcher and fabricate whole carcasses from their farm and market directly to individuals and restaurants. In addition to fresh cuts they also produce a full line of fresh and smoked sausages, charcuterie, stocks, broths, and jerky. Moving forward, the Iverstine's hope to fully integrate their business by taking on the slaughter of their animals to have control of their product from farm all the way to the consumer's table.
