About the Chef
Chef Shanti’s knives have taken her everywhere from Albuquerque to London. Her passion for cooking began in high school during a short stint as a baker’s assistant for a family-owned Italian restaurant in Virginia. After obtaining a business marketing degree while playing chef for family and friends in her spare time, the restaurant industry quickly reeled her in again. She dove into the culinary world eager to learn, grabbing every food opportunity that presented itself including Sommelier, Sous Chef and even a gig cooking for the Emmy Award winning show, "House of Cards".
Post culinary certification, Ashleigh received training under the direction of James Beard Award Winning Baltimore-based Restauranteur and Chef Cindy Wolf. Currently, she serves as the Culinary Assistant for Chef Vivian Howard of PBS’ “A Chef’s Life” and Chef and the Farmer in Kinston, NC. Be sure to follow Ashleigh’s many food adventures from foraging to Kombucha brewing on Instagram @foodordeath.
