Join the Southern Food & Beverage Museum in La Galerie de L'Absinthe for a special absinthe tasting and discussion with Ray Bordelon and Atelier Vie Distillery.
Ray Bordelon is an avid absinthe product collector and aficionado of absinthe history. His vast collection features hundreds of antique absinthe drip spoons, antique bottles, and absinthe fountains. The collection is on loan to the Southern Food & Beverage Museum, forming La Galerie de l'Absinthe. This event celebrates the 10th anniversary of SoFAB.
Bordelon returns to the Museum to give a free demonstration of the absinthe drip process and provide a tasting. The absinthe cocktail has been taboo throughout history, surrounded by legends of hallucinations and mystery. It was illegal, in the United States, from 1912 to 2007. Guests are invited to engage with the mystique of absinthe by tasting it for themselves and learning about its history.
The program begins at 3 PM in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air, samples are first come first serve. The “Absinthe Experience” is free with Museum admission.
