Join the Southern Food & Beverage Museum for a cooking demonstration from Chef Lauren Von Der Pool. Chef Von Der Pool graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, and has worked with many notable chefs, including Wolfgang Puck and Alice Waters. She has also worked as a personal chef for many prominent celebrities, like Patti Labelle, Common, Stevie Wonder, Novak Djokovic, Venus and Serena Williams (Venus Williams wrote the forward for her cookbook Eat Yourself Sexy). 

The program begins at 1 PM in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air, samples are first come first serve. Free with museum admission.

About the Chef


Lauren Von Der Pool’s hunger for healthy living began in 2001 when she was only 16 years of age. When Von Der Pool realized that what was going on in her life and community was happening globally, she began to educate herself, her community, and the world about healthy living! The rest is history.

Lauren Von Der Pool has also catered many high-profile events with her catering company, Von Der Pool Gourmet and Healthy Living Services, including The Oscars, Grammy’s, BET Honors, The Espy’s, MTV Music Awards, The Congressional Black Caucus, Screen Actor Guild Awards, Olympics, Wimbledon and many others. 

One of the most significant highlights of her career occurred in 2009, Former First Lady Michelle Obama invited Lauren Von Der Pool to serve as an executive chef for “Let’s Move!”—the Former First Lady’s childhood obesity prevention campaign. 

Lauren Von Der Pool has dedicated much of her own career as a chef conveying the importance of healthy eating. Through her non-profit Von Der Pool Healthy Living Services and her ‘Fresh City Kids’ movement, Lauren is committed to healing the world through food, agricultural awareness and self-empowerment and is a true inspiration to many, all over the globe. 

Chef Von Der Pool in 2017 and first quarter 2018 has new location in Los Angeles for Fresh City Kids camp and she also has opened up a full plant base menu on her newest venture FOODART By Lauren – The delicious food offerings are prepared daily by the Chef on her very own Food Truck operating daily 11-8pm at the Hollywood Walk of fame location on Hollywood and Vine Street- her clients are enjoying daily specials.
