Justin Fox Burks will conduct a book signing, cooking demonstration, and sampling in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. In 2008, Burks started sharing creative recipes for the home cook when he launched, along with his wife/co-author Amy Lawrence, The Chubby Vegetarian blog.
The program begins at 1 PM in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air, samples are first come first serve. Free with museum admission.
About the Chef
Justin Fox Burks and his wife, Amy Lawrence, released their first cookbook, The Southern Vegetarian: 100 Down-Home Recipes for the Modern Table, in 2013. Later that year, they were honored to be invited to speak at the James Beard House.
In October 2016, Justin and Amy released The Chubby Vegetarian: 100 Inspired Vegetable Recipes for the Modern Table. The couple has made various appearances – sharing their expertise on vegetarian cuisine – on shows such as “The Great Food Truck Race” on The Food Network, and P. Allen Smith’s nationally syndicated program “Garden Style.” Together, Justin and Amy write articles about their passion for healthy food; and have been published by The New York Times Well blog, The Washington Post, Woman’s Day, The Kitchen, Local Palate, The Huffington Post, Memphis Magazine, Edible Memphis, and The Memphis Flyer.
A professional photographer for 17 years, Justin displays his stunning work in both cookbooks. His work also includes shooting for MTV, Esquire, and GQ, and he’s been profiled in Professional Photographer magazine and The New York Times. His photography has appeared on the covers of countless magazines, a handful of beautiful cookbooks, in a few art galleries, and wrapped around one city bus. Justin resides with his wife in Memphis, Tennessee, where he proudly has both a taco and sandwich named after him.
