Join the Southern Food & Beverage Museum to welcome author Dixie Poche for a cooking demonstration and book signing. Her newest book is Louisiana Sweets. Poché dives into the recipes and history behind such beloved regional specialties as Mardi Gras king cake, flaming Bananas Foster, Cajun Country’s pain perdu and many more.
Sophi P Cakes from Lafayette will be demonstrating their techniques for baking cupcakes that are out-of-this-world delicious. Leah's Pralines of New Orleans will have samples of their delightful pralines to showcase the traditional sweet.
This event is presented in partnership with the John & Bonnie Boyd Hospitality & Culinary Library and is free with museum admission. Those who purchase a copy of Louisiana Sweets in the SoFAB Pantry will receive 1 complimentary admission per book. The program begins at 1 PM in the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air, samples are first come first serve.

Dixie Poche is a graduate of the University of Louisiana–Lafayette in journalism. She is a travel and corporate writer in Lafayette and author of Classic Eateries of Cajun Country, published by American Palate, a division of The History Press. She enjoys doing research at the lunch counter and spends time with lots of Cajun cousins hanging out on the front porch.
