About the Speaker

For 12 years prior to joining Cane River Pecan Company Jady Regard worked in the sports industry for LSU’s men’s basketball team, the Louisiana IceGators professional hockey team and the Chicago Bears of the NFL. Jady returned to Louisiana in 2002 to become the CNO of the Cane River Pecan Company in an effort to the lead the family-owned company into the next generation. The Regard family has been involved in the Louisiana pecan industry since 1969, when brothers, Dan and Joe Regard, bought pecan orchards along the historic Cane River in Natchitoches Parish. This region of Louisiana is known for fertile row crops, famous cotton production, significant southern plantations and many prized pecan orchards. At the tender age of 9, Jady along with his two brothers, founded The Nutcrackers, a garage-based company that offered “cracking and pecan shelling services” to locals that needed to have their Louisiana yard-crop pecans processed. In 1985, Jady’s father, Dan Regard, opened the Cane River Pecan Company store on Front Street in the city of Natchitoches, Louisiana as an outlet to sell their pecans direct from the orchards. Years later, a mail order company by the same name was founded by Jady’s mother, Margie Regard, in their hometown of New Iberia, Louisiana. The mail order company specializes in corporate holiday gifts featuring the Regard’s gourmet pecans. Today the company offers a broad variety of southern pecan specialties and customizable gourmet gifts. The company has a national client base and ships their pecan products globally.
